The Fair Housing Act protects you from housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, disability, familial status, age, source of income, or marital status
Nationally, white renters and home buyers still have an advantage over minorities, despite years of action to prevent housing discrimination. In Washington, blacks and whites are generally on a level field when it comes to finding and negotiating rentals, although blacks tend to pay more at move-in, receive fewer incentives and have slightly higher average security deposits.
